Matariki is the Maori name for the constellation Pleiades or Seven Sisters. Literally, it means "little eyes" - mata riki or "eyes of god" - mata ariki. Too Kuhu, Mata Mau hata, references the god Kuhu, a name reminiscent of the Egyptian Pharaoh Khufu who was the second king of the 4th dynasty and the alleged builder of the Great Pyramid.
The average height of the moai is about 13 ft. These massive creations usually weigh in at around 13.8 tonnes each. There are also 13 moai carved from basalt.
